MÄHREN AG buys high-rise building in Emsland, marking a switch towards B cities

Berlin, November 4, 2019. The Berlin property portfolio holder Mähren has acquired a residential property in Lingen (Emsland), its first in Lower Saxony. It bought the Emsland Skyscraper with 140 apartments. The purchase price was some 11 million euros. The 36.5 m high building in Langschmidtsweg was erected in 1972. “We are still acquiring in Berlin but very selectively. We have adjusted our investment parameters accordingly in the light of the rent cap,” said the company. On the other hand, B and C locations such as Leipzig, Halle, Magdeburg, Frankfurt an der Oder, Dresden or certain cities in North Rhine Westphalia are attractive, because they are benefiting from population inflow, have expanding economies and are not in the focus of regulatory red tape.
