MÄHREN AG expands portfolio and also targets plot acquisitions and project developments

Berlin, October 28, 2020. MÄHREN AG, a long-term oriented portfolio holder with a focus on residential properties, acquired real estate for some 55 million euros in Q3, 2020. Now doing business throughout Germany, the company has continued to expand its radius of action by acquiring a residential and business building in Hamburg for the first time. The building with 15 residential and 3 commercial units is in the extremely attractive location Eppendorfer Lehmweg. In Eastern Germany too, MÄHREN AG once again succeeded in acquiring buildings for its portfolio. In Unkersdorfer Straße and Stephensonstraße, Dresden, the company acquired two more multi-family houses with altogether 23 residential units. In Chemnitz, a residential complex with 29 residential units was acquired. The building dating back to 1993 is located in Talstraße.

“We have an extremely sound financial base and thanks to our high equity ratio can flexibly direct our business activities as situations arise,” adds Mähren.

„Our forecast that despite the effects of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic investments in the residential properties asset class would remain attractive has been confirmed. Besides acquisitions in Berlin, Eastern Germany and the Ruhr region, we have now turned our focus to our business activities in Hamburg and the whole of Northern Germany.“

Project developments in affluent Berlin suburbs

In its home market of Berlin, Mähren AG is expanding its project development activities, investing increasingly in building lots the affluent suburbs and surroundings of the federal capital. For example, the company has inter alia acquired a some 7,000 square-meter site in metropolitan Potsdam for development. In Berlin-Köpenick, MÄHREN AG is planning to develop an acquired construction site with 21 semi-detached houses with altogether 2,500 square meters living space.
“We are intensifying our activities in the field of residential properties development. To that end, we are acquiring predominantly properties in need of development, commercial sites and building lots in Berlin and its close surroundings. We are excellently positioned to re-densify buildings or develop completely anew as the case may be. In Köpenick, for example, we are erecting modern owner-occupied homes in a very attractive location between Müggelsee and Dahme. The demand for living space in the Berlin region is enormous; and here, besides our core business of portfolio holding, we would like to make an offer with project developments in the mid-range segment,” says Mähren.
