ESG as an integral part of our business

MÄHREN AG’s ESG strategy covers all activities in the areas of real estate investment and management. These activities relate primarily to the aspects of environment, social affairs and governance. The guidelines of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are particularly significant for MÄHREN AG as a company. The parameters Corporate Governance, Economic Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability as well as Social Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship form central points of the strategy and represent significant success factors for future competitiveness in the real estate industry.

The factors defined in the ESG strategy are an elementary component of the organization and operational processes. Business activities are geared toward addressing challenges in a committed and responsible manner and implementing viable solutions.
Consistent implementation of ESG criteria
This is ensured by a strategic approach and the consistent implementation of ESG criteria in daily work processes. Furthermore, the ESG strategy of MÄHREN AG is based on the UN Sustainability Development Goals (SDGS). All business activities are aligned with responsible, sustainable development for a better future.

The ESG strategy anchored in the corporate culture ensures that all employees work together toward the same goals and adhere to them. Consideration of all areas is subject to regular internal review and further development by our certified ESG advisor. As a company, we also believe that spreading and creating awareness of sustainable living contributes to the significant success of implementing the ESG strategy.

Environment: activities and goals
  • We are gradually converting our vehicle fleet to hybrid and electric models. So far, we have been able to convert 13 of 30 vehicles. A further 10 vehicles are planned for 2023.
  • We are the private-sector owner with the largest forest stand of our own in Berlin. The area achieves CO2 storage of around 15,000 tons per year. The purchase of further forest areas is planned.
  • We use environmentally conscious software solutions.

  • We offer numerous individual training and development opportunities as well as mental coaching for all our employees.
  • With the help of the Jakob Mähren Foundation, we support numerous social projects for needy children.
  • With further donations, we support projects where needy children and families have access to medical care

Jakob Mähren is known as a company founder, CEO and real estate investor far beyond the borders of Berlin. In addition, he founded the Jakob Mähren Foundation in 2015 and supports selected social projects with the institution. Both professionally and privately, the native Berliner has already been involved in social projects with great pleasure in the past.
