MÄHREN GROUP is looking to invest up to 200 million euros in the Berlin residential property market

Initial acquisitions of about 220 units in Berlin
2014 most successful year in the company’s history
Sale of 835 residential units to Akelius for about 85 million releases new capital for acquisitions
Berlin, February 2, 2015. The MÄHREN GROUP, a real estate investor with a focus on residential properties in Berlin, has announced plans for acquisitions for up to 200 million euros for the coming years. “We are continuing to grow,” says Jakob Mähren, Executive Shareholder of the MÄHREN GROUP. “We are sticking to our investment strategy and will continue to invest in buildings with development potential within the boundary set by the Berlin rapid-transit ring and selected buildings in prime locations in the federal capital.” As a first step, the company acquired about 220 residential units in Charlottenburg, Mitte and Pankow for about 25 million euros in the past weeks alone. “The new holdings are ideally suited for long-term management and delivering a positive cashflow,” comments Mähren.

Sale to Akelius releases further capital for acquisitions
In addition, MÄHREN GROUP sold 835 residential units to Akelius for about 85 million euros a couple of weeks ago.

Almost without exception, we bought the residential units in a difficult market phase in Berlin and held them in our portfolio over the years. Now was the right time for disposal. That Akelius, a company we have come to appreciate as a sound and reliable partner, was the buyer is all the more pleasing. The released capital will now be invested in further expansion. Sometimes you have to take a step back to get a good run-up.

In 2014, the MÄHREN GROUP generated a total investment volume of about 145 million euros through acquisitions and disposals on the Berlin residential property market and can thus look back on the most successful business year in the company’s history. “We select our investment targets at the micro level and always consider the value creation potential from long-term holding. For us, both residential portfolios and individual rental properties represent potential acquisitions,” adds Mähren.
